GUIDE TO NOSARA
TRANSPORTATION
Getting to Nosara - We fly into Liberia Airport and have Limo Dan pick us up - the roads are not the best and it’s a 2.5hr drive to Nosara and GPS cuts in and out so it’s best to hire someone to pick you up to bring you to the house. Then we recommend you rent a car from Limo Dan in town - they are amazing! There are also flights from Liberia to Nosara but the planes are small and there are only a couple of options so please check your flight times to make sure they match up correctly. Jose at Green Ride Nosara is also an amazing contact for shuttle service.

FINDING A PLACE TO STAY IN NOSARA
The first year we went to Nosara we stayed in section K (very desired location - close to Bodhi Tree) and we loved it. The second year we stayed in section G (close to Guilded Iguana) where it is a bit more loud/busy but very close to shops/restaurants and the beach. We have also stayed in Playa Pelada - loved the beach and easy to access to Guiones. This year we are staying in Garza which is the a small local fishing village 15 minutes South of Playa Guiones.

NOSARA GUIDE
Nosara is generally comprised of four different areas.
Nosara Central – located inland, with the regional airport at its center. Two grocery stores are located here – Super Paloma and Super Nosara. In addition, you will find the main Post Office, Nosara Taxi, a pharmacy, and several little local stores and “tica sodas” or local eateries. If you are visiting Nosara in mid-January, you might check out the local fiesta and rodeo as well!
Playa Ostional – a 20- to 30-minute drive from the house, this is the the northern most beach in the town of Nosara. The main attraction here is the National Wildlife Refuge, where, between the months of July and December, you can witness an Arribada (arrival) of sea turtles coming in to nest and lay their eggs. The beaches here are beautiful, black volcanic sand – be care, it get very hot! If you are an experienced surfer, you may want to catch a few waves here, too.
Playa Pelada – the “middle beach” of Nosara. A bit more sedate than Playa Guiones, it nonetheless is a beautiful beach and well worth a visit to watch the sunset. Make a point of having a glass of wine, a cocktail, or even dinner at Lagarta Lodge or La Luna Restaurant in order to enjoy the breathtaking views.
Playa Guiones – is the area's most popular beach and a paradise for surfers of all levels.
The tourist map below will give you a general overview of the Playas de Nosara. Please note that a few of the places noted on the map may have moved or closed since it was created.

MORE ACTIVITIES
The beauty of visiting Nosara is that you can choose to do nothing at all and totally decompress while floating in the pool right here in our little sanctuary, taking reinvigorating walks along the beach, and soaking up the sights and sounds within the little community of Playa Guiones.
Or you can choose among a plethora of activities right here in Nosara or in the surrounding area to occupy your time during your stay with us. Yoga, surfing, stand up paddle-boarding, ATV tours, zip-lining, and horseback riding are just the tip of the iceberg!
The following is just a partial list of activities in the area:
Yoga:
Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort – right up the road, just after the turn off from the main road coming into Nosara. Just a short walk from the house!
Yoga at the Harmony Hotel – located in the heart of Playa Guiones, approximately half way between the main road and the main beach entrance. About a fifteen minute walk from the house.
Nalu Nosara – located in the northern section of Playa Guiones, about a 10-15 minute drive from the house.
Surfing and Stand-Up-Paddle Boarding:
Agua Tibia Surf School offers surf lessons and board rentals. They are located next to the Nosara Beach Hostel, about a 5 minute walk from the house and a short walk to the Baker Beach entrance. We have all had lessons with Adrian Suarez and his crew! A really great experience!
Coconut Harry’s – two locations, one on the main road co-located with Taco Taco, and the other location next to Beach Dog Cafe, a short walk from the main Guiones beach entrance.
Nosara Surf Shop – located in the heart of Playa Guiones, near the Harmony Hotel. They rent both surfboards and stand-up-paddle boards. They also offer SUP tours of the mangroves.
Olo Alaia Surf & Brew – located across the street from Surfing Nosara, in the heart of Playa Guiones. They rent surf boards, and offer surf and SUP lessons, tours, and excursions.
Zip Lining:
Miss Sky Canopy Tours is a fantastic and exhilarating way to experience the beauty of the Guanacaste Province! Located on the left side of the main road going into Nosara Centro, just past the Banco de Costa Rica and gas station plaza. Stop by a few days prior to your desired tour date to reserve your spots and put down a cash deposit. Or contact Alejandro, the concierge at Pura Vida Management, to arrange your tour. Please be advised that Miss Sky only accepts cash payments, either in US Dollars or Costa Rican colones, and plan accordingly.
ATV and Other Adventure Tours:
Monkey Quads – located next to the Tourist Police Station, in the heart of Playa Guiones, just up the road from the main beach entrance. They offer a number of different tours. We highly recommend the Grand Tour, which will give you an exhilarating ride up into the mountains, through the forest, and across the river multiple times!
Tico Tours Nosara – located in the heart of Playa Guiones, just up the road from the main beach entrance. They offer several different ATV tours, as well as several different horseback riding tours.
Nosara Surf Shop – located in the heart of Playa Guiones. They offer an ATV tour that takes you through the rain forest and to the Mala Noche waterfall!
Boca Nosara Tours – located at the end of the road that is the turn off for Lagarta Lodge, off the main road into Nosara Centro. About a 15-20 minute drive from the house. They offer ATV, kayak, and horseback riding tours.
The Arribada (sea turtle arrival):
Playa Ostional Wildlife Reserve – the sight of the monthly (sometimes twice a month!) arrival of female Olive-Ridley sea turtles to nest and lay their eggs. Contact Francisco, the Pura Vida Check-In Manager, if you are interested in a tour. Francisco is a certified guide for the Arribada and has extensive training and experience with the turtles. He will notify you if and when the turtles have started nesting. There is usually about a six to eight day window during which the turtles start coming ashore.
Wildlife:
Refuge for Wildlife – check out their website for opportunities to make an educational visit to the refuge.
SIBU Sanctuary – check out their website for opportunities to make an educational visit to the sanctuary.
Mini Golf:
Jungle Mini Golf is located just behind the Cafe de Paris, just across from Taco Taco on the main road.
